Commercial Vehicle Fleet Maintenance Controller

Permanent Position

Immediate Start Available

Witney / Kidlington / Eynsham / Wootton

Up to £33,000 basic salary / Private Health Care / Pension / Free Parking / Career Progression / Monday to Friday role.

We are working with an established commercial vehicle fleet management company in the Oxfordshire area who are now looking to appoint a Fleet Maintenance Controller to head up the maintenance of the 3200 vehicle fleet.

Within the fleet there is vehicles from MAN, Mercedes and DAF (mostly unit & trailers). So experience within the HGV sector is a must.

Job Purpose:

To ensure legal compliance in line with the department of transport code of practice standards and company policy. To monitor the quality of work carried out by all repairers to ensure these are carried out to the agreed company standards. To monitor maintenance costs and ensure they are in line with agreed company budgets. Where costs exceed budgets investigate reasons and offer solutions. To assist the business and offer innovative and added value solutions for all technical and maintenance related issues. To support the Operations Manager on a day to day basis.

Job Duties:

* Manage vehicle, trailer and ancillary equipment maintenance regimes provided by external contractors, to DVSA, HSE and manufacturers' recommendations and codes of practice. These to be in line with the company maintenance policies to protect our customers 'O' licence.
* Monitor the quality, timeliness and cost of all work completed by external contractors; ensuring that necessary standards, service levels and legislative compliance are maintained.
* Endeavour at all times to secure the most cost effective solutions. Including, maximising warranty benefits, FPM arrangements and/or good will/loss of use processes.
* Manage off hire recharge process to completion
* Advise and assist our customers and BD management with projects, relevant performance improvements, MIS and reports in order to maximise the service offering of our company.
* To identify costs that are chargeable to the customer and other third parties.
* Working with the accounts team ensure chargeable invoices are raised in a timely manner and ensure payments are received in line with the Axis payment terms
* Work with the sales team to ensure all equipment is available to hire when required
* Ensure the vendor agreement policy is fully complied with
* WIP / purchase order numbers work in progress to be kept to no older than 4 weeks
* Review and progress breakdowns in line with company policy


* HGV Technician background essential
* Experience in managing maintenance on a fleet of HGV's
* Well organised
* Able to think outside the box
* Keen eye for detail
* Negotiation skills


Monday to Friday (Apply online only).
