Our client is an independent day school for boys aged 7 -18 and girls aged 16 -18. There are over 160 staff in the two common rooms and 130 non-teaching staff. Founded in 1829 by Royal Charter, this is a school of over 1300 pupils located in one of the most attractive and peaceful parts of London.

From September 2017 they are looking to appoint a health care assistant (full-time during term-time) to support their school nurses and the busy medical room. A suitably experienced candidate is therefore required to assist with the provision of the healthcare needs of the pupils. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic experienced and flexible individual to join their dedicated and friendly professional team. Roles and responsibilities:
· To assist and deputise for nurses
· To see, treat and discharge pupils, staff and members of the public
· To manage post-concussion checks
· To update confidential records using the school's electronic systems
· To administer OTC, prescription and controlled drug medications as relevant
· To liaise with teaching, pastoral staff, parents and other healthcare professionals regarding injury/illness
· To prepare a schedule of trips and prepare all school trip first aid bags including individual medication
· To liaise with parents regarding expired medications
· To prepare sufficient first aid bags for activities week

· To complete personal emergency evacuation plans for pupils with limited mobility and share appropriately
· To complete pre and post exam illness and injury assessments
· To report accidents appropriately and follow up
· To collect injury reports from sports pavilion and action and file appropriately
· To check defibrillators, restock the treatment room and cricket pavilion
· To order medical supplies
· To escort pupils to collect bags and parents to/from reception
· To order and collect fruit, ice, drinks, biscuits and water cups from catering
· To provide pitch side cover (KCS and external when necessary)
· To accompany staff members to A&E where necessary
· Photocopying and filing.

Termly & half termly:
· To check all grab bags, emergency asthma and diabetic boxes in the medical room, boat club and cricket pavilion and restock if necessary. Also to check and replace expired medication
· To check all first aid boxes on site and school buses, ensuring that documentation is up-to-date and consumables are in-date
· To distribute first aider lists and hospitalisation procedures at sites around the school
· To order supplies

· To remove U6 medical files and archive
· To assist with preparation, updating and archiving of medical records
· To maintain current own First Aid Qualification and mandatory training
