The Finance Team is based in our Barnstaple office and currently has 20 staff covering all aspects of finance, from day to day accounting to the preparation of group submissions and dealing with new acquisitions and their integration into the Group. In addition to supporting Bray Leino the team provides finance services to seven other Mission subsidiaries across the UK. Due to the high volume of transactions and multiple companies we service it’s important that we work as a team and are continually looking into ways in which we can work more efficiently whilst maintaining our high standards and excellent reputation.

What will I be doing?

We’re looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant to work with our senior Finance team to cover Bray Leino Limited and other Mission Group companies. The key purpose of the role is to support the Financial Accountants and assist in the production of monthly management accounts and management information packs, assisting client services staff with queries regarding the job costing system and profitability reports and variances.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assistance with the monthly management accounts for various group companies, including month end accrual/prepayment calculations, payroll journals, balancing of control accounts
- Posting month end journals
- Reconciling nominal accounts/spread sheets
- Reviewing TB and investigating & correcting anomalies
- Ensure that the job costing system reconciles to the nominal ledger system, and thereby producing accurate profitability reports
- Populating detailed spread sheets showing sales and costs per client
- Review the profitability reports with Account Managers, to ensure all income has been recorded and that costs are accurate and in line with expectations
- Produce month end reports for WIP & accruals, ensuring that both income & expenditure is recorded accurately in accordance with UK GAAP/IFRS

What will I need?

The ideal candidate is likely to possess the following:

- Fully Qualified AAT
- Previous demonstrable experience within a finance team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
