This role will provide greater resilience in the support of the facilities and property management arrangement, also where required on additional Corporate Contracts. The role will be supporting on the construction framework contract management activities, working on highways improvement projects, contract change control processes and helping to embed Contract Event Management and Reporting (CEMAR) and offering support to the waste portfolio as required.

The jobholder will be directly accountable for ensuring that the contracts assigned to them are managed proactively. They will be responsible for ensuring that all commercial issues/contractual changes are negotiated effectively, that the contracts are delivering the required level of performance and that key aspects such as safeguarding and data protection are adequately addressed.

The Contract Manager will need to demonstrate tenacity, drive, and commercial acumen and sound negotiation skills. A key requirement will be the identification and delivery of on-going efficiencies and service improvements.

This role will lead the commercial relationship with a number of Essex County Council's (ECC) key strategic suppliers. The main focus will be monitoring supplier performance against Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators and managing supply chain risk whilst also ensuring that contracts and all associated performance metrics evolve to keep pace with changes in ECC's requirements.
