Security & Infrastructure Operations Manager

Greywood are delighted to be exclusively representing a major award-winning client, who require an experienced Security and Infrastructure Operations Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to come on board and set up the security, monitoring and infrastructure from scratch how you think it should be done!

This is a complex role which covers both the technicalities of the day to day job and team management (split circa 80:20).

Since this role includes hands-on hardware work the candidate should preferably be within 30 minutes of the site, as many of our systems operate 24/7/365 and problems may not be resolvable via remote log in.

Key technical skills:

* LAN and WAN (routing, VLAN, VPN, wireless, fibre, DNS)
* LINUX system configuration/patching [3]
* Windows server (Domain Controller, Active Directory, …)
* IS Security: Firewalls/Virus protection etc.
* System monitoring (e.g. Zabbix, Zenoss, …)
* Server and networking hardware
* PCI-DSS compliance/auditing
* Software licensing and maintenance contracts agreement and management
* Experience working to and monitoring targeted SLAs and KPIs including system availability, downtime and recovery timings
* Server virtualisation
* Disaster Recovery Testing, Scheduling and Policy.
* Defining and implementing security strategy including:

o Password policy

o Virus protection

o Infiltration protection policy

o Secure computer operations room

o Spam control

o Backup software packages

Additional/Bonus Skills:

* Microsoft Windows including, Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Visio.
* Experience in setting up Git / Git Hooks staging environments
* Experience in using Salt/Puppet/Chef/Ansible or similar
* Bash and PHP Scripting
* System tuning/optimisation (e.g. Apache, MySQL, …)

* Mentoring junior team members including training programmes
* Managing budgets
* Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
* Ability to anticipate technological developments to keep activity relevant and targeted
* Good estimation abilities and a finisher character type
* Able to cope with pressure and conflicting priorities since problems may arise which lack simple/quick fixes
