Computer Officer
Full time, 36.5 hours per week
Salary: £25,598 - £32,205 per annum, depending on skills and experience

Summary of the role
The Computer Officer will be primarily responsible for the 1st and 2nd line IT support to the College’s staff, students and Fellows however they will also act as a “second” in the support, maintenance and documenting of the server and network infrastructure.

The IT Office is a small team comprising four full-time staff and a part-time IT Director.

General Background
Fitzwilliam College is a dynamic, welcoming, international community committed to developing the talents of all its students, the support of young academics and the training and professional development of its staff. It is one of the 31 colleges that form part of the University of Cambridge and is a large community with around 475 undergraduates and 350 full- and part-time graduate students, 55 Fellows and more than 100 staff.

The College is first and foremost an educational establishment. It recruits and teaches undergraduate and post-graduate students from all over the world, holds open days for schools and prospective applicants and arranges subject conferences for teachers. It also keeps in touch with an alumni base of over 8000, arranging events and reunions, and runs a thriving conference and catering business with an annual turnover of approximately £1.3m, hosting over 150 conferences a year, many of which are residential.

The College estate consists of the main site between Storey’s Way and the Huntingdon Road, comprising 410 study bedrooms within the main campus, a wide range of accommodation in 26 houses and hostels, each housing between 4 and 37 students, which are (with one exception) within a short walking distance from College.

Conditions of appointment
This is a full-time role, working 36.5 hours per week although some out of hours working maybe required, which will be compensated by time off in lieu. The usual working hours for this role are expected to be between 08:30 and 16:30, Monday to Friday.

The salary range is £25,598-£32,205 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Benefits include 25 days holiday plus eight days public holidays, enrolment into a contributory Group Personal Pension scheme, a discretionary bonus scheme, free lunch on duty and car parking on site, when available.
