Do you have a background in teaching or Special Educational Needs?

We are looking to recruit four engaging individuals with an enthusiastic approach to work on a one to one basis with students and adults, who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and physical disabilities, in the Suffolk area.

Essex County Council delivers Travel Training services on behalf of Suffolk County Council and following a successful pilot, is seeking to expand this provision across the county. The new positions are coming at an exciting time for the Travel Training team - you'll be joining an experienced, passionate and award-winning team of trainers!

The post holder will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and trust with both the student/adult and their parent/carer/guardian.

Utilising your knowledge of SEN and/or learning disabilities you will develop and deliver tailored individualised journey planning, as well as road and personal safety training on public transport. Your training and support will enhance the clients social and life skills, building their confidence so they are able to undertake these journeys independently. You are also responsible for generating your own referrals for the following year.

The ideal candidate will have good organisational, listening and time management skills along with the ability to use initiative and work independently. The post holder will need to undertake an element of administration and computer based work associated with maintaining daily training records, risk assessments and reports along with the communication skills to provide positive constructive feedback and the ability to promote the team.

The roles will involve travel across the County of Suffolk and beyond; therefore access to your own transport and the ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.

In this role you would be expected to have some early starts/late finishes as well as working during school holidays. You will be responsible for managing your own diary so will be highly organised and able to prioritise.
