Job Title – Maintenance Manager

Location – Dewsbury

Salary - £36,000 to £40,000 (depending on experience)

Hour – Monday to Friday (7:30am to 4:00pm)

The Company

Our client are the UK’s largest manufacturer of Construction Products. With a turnover of nearly half a Billion Pounds, the business is experiencing a fantastic period of rapid growth thanks to the boom in the Housing Market. With 16 manufacturing sites around the UK, they produce a wide range of products for the Construction, Civils, Highways, and Rail Industries, including Bricks, Blocks, Precast Concrete Products, Roof Tiles, Chimneys, and Insulation Products.

The business have been heavily investing in a number of plant expansions to meet market demand, as well as introducing a number of revolutionary, never before seen, products for the Construction market to further cement their position as market leader. Their Dewsbury Site is a fully automated, state of the art Extruded Brick plant, producing over 1 million bricks per week in their 250 meter long gas fired tunnel kiln.

The Role

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the overall running of the Engineering and Stores Department. This consists of 14 Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, working on a 4 on 4 off days and nights shift pattern, plus Days based PPM Engineers and a small team of Welder Fabricators. Production runs Monday to Friday for 8 to 9 hours per day, leaving 14 hours per day for PPM and Project Work.

The Maintenance Manager will need to organise the daily work schedules for each shift, including assigning PPM tasks. They will also need to ensure all staff adhere to H&S policies, plus manage all Contractors whilst onsite, including producing work orders and permits. They would also need to run 1-2-1s and appraisals, and disciplinaries if required.

The Maintenance Manager will also have overall control of the stores and will need to ensure parts and spares are available for repairs and projects. This includes ordering from existing suppliers, as well as liaising with Purchasing for exceptional items.

For the past 18 months, the business has had a big drive on LEAN manufacturing across all of their sites. The current PPM system on site is in need of an upgrade and as such the Business would like someone with experience setting up and managing PPM systems from scratch, using Continuous Improvement and LEAN techniques. The lines are currently running at between 60% to 80% OEE, but they would like to see this figure above 90% as soon as possible.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application you must have the following skills, abilities or qualifications:

* Must have a recognised Engineering Qualification.
* Must have previous Man Management experience.
* Must have previous experience running an Engineering or Maintenance Department in a manufacturing environment.
* Must have experience setting up and managing a Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedule, including Continuous Improvement and LEAN
