Our client a well established reputable manufacturing organisation requires an experienced Electrical Engineer that can come on site and hit the ground running.

Role purpose

To be responsible for the addressing of day to day issues arising and for the implementation/co-ordination of effective maintenance and support of equipment and infrastructure within the area. This is effected through the Electrical Engineering Manager with the support of the electrical shifts, the automation department and external contractors.

Responsible for

Developing, co-ordinating and implementing in conjunction with the Electrical Engineering Manager electrical maintenance requirements for the machines and infrastructure within the area.
The implementation and maintenance, in conjunction with the Electrical Engineering Manager , the Area Mechanical Engineer and the Area Operations Manager, of Safe Operating Practices in the area relating to Isolations and performance of planned and reactive maintenance tasks relating to use of in house and contracted labour.
Working with the Area Operations Manager and the rest of the area team to plan, resource and supervise the implementation of all electrical maintenance and minor project work through maintenance days and shutdowns.
Electrical reliability and performance of the machinery within the area through
planned/preventative maintenance, condition monitoring, spares sourcing, improvement projects to beat set KPIs.
Responding to support any break downs, or emergency repair situation as required, minimising asset outage.
Attending area production meetings and reporting on Electrical & Control issues.
Attending area safety meetings and reporting on issues arising and providing improvement plans for the addressing of safety issues.
Support of multi-disciplinary teams working on the Continuous Improvement of the
performance of the Cell in areas relating to safety, product, machines, infrastructure, technical, energy, cost…
For working in the area team to support process development and the investigation of longer term issues, whilst co-ordinating support enabling resolution of electrical/electronic and process related issues.
Control of contractors as required ensuring that RAMS are provided and adhered to.
Maintenance of electrical documentation for machines and infrastructure in the area.
Provision of knowledge, support and training to shift personnel as required in the form of machine documentation, manuals, drawings, Standard Operating Procedures and direct hands on assistance.
Ensuring in conjunction with Electrical Engineering Manager that appropriate training is set up for electrical personnel as required.
Assist Engineering & Manufacturing Management in specific tasks relating to the monitoring and improvement of energy consumption.
Ensure compliance with all government and other agency requirements by provision of relevant data and reports.
Keeping up to date with all relevant legislation.

Required Skills / Knowledge

Ability to perform fault finding tasks on PLC’s (Siemens S7 / Allen Bradley) via programming tool
The ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings
Specialised knowledge of Electrical & Electronic engineering achieved through a combination of academic and practical experience gained in a formal and structured way.
A comprehensive and up to date understanding of Health and Safety Management, IEE regulations and relevant standard codes of practice of working on electrical apparatus up to medium voltage levels.
Good knowledge of key production processes and support equipment.


All applicants must have an HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline and ideally have worked within a FMCG environment
