My Client is currently recruiting for a Lead Engineer on Nights.

As Lead Engineer your role will be to effectively provide diagnostic skills to establish causation of equipment faults. You would also be required to conduct planned preventative maintenance on food process equipment and the manufacturing facility at a modern chilled food plant.

This role will require you to work 12 hours per day on a 4 on/4 off pattern. The starting time for this role varies in accordance with engineering needs and will be a start time of 6pm or 7pm and finishing accordingly at 6am or 7am.

Duties & responsibilities
• Advise management of any safety issues that need action
• Liaise with contractors to ensure compliance with site rules
• Ensure contractors associated to Engineering department are given a site induction, permits and paperwork completed fully and accurately and checked with Engineer sign off or pending actions
• Ensure machinery is fit for purpose, and meets all safety requirements during your shift.
• Ensure you are familiar with all existing equipment on site, where necessary make your manager aware of any shortfall in knowledge
• Be proactive, with regard to maintaining site machinery, recommend ongoing improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Work with the production team, develop and implement solutions to improve productivity and reduce labour cost
• Provide full support in the strategic reconfiguration of the factory footprint, to facilitate the cost effective introduction of new kit

The ideal candidate
• UK Qualifications that are supplemented with experience obtained with an apprenticeship: ONC Electrical / or C & G 2360 parts 1 and 2 / or NVQ level 3 with C&G 2351 level 2 or 3 / or equivalent as verified by C&G
• Experience with thermoforming, flow wrap, metal detectors and packaging machinery
• Competency with 3ph / 1ph motor control is essential
• Experience of a fast-paced FMCG working with chilled products
• Experience & knowledge of pneumatics, refrigeration & factory services is desirable
• Team player with good communication skills
• Previous management of junior engineers and the ability to coach develop and lead your team to perform consistently at a high standard.
• Ability to work on own initiative and demonstrate good problem solving and decision making skills
• Competent computer skills required
• Be proactive and resilient whilst maintaining an adaptive approach
