  • Outstanding School

An oversubscribed, gender specific faith school in Lambeth are looking to recruit an exceptional Science teacher to join their outstanding, highly academically achieving Science Department as the 2nd in-charge. Science is the most favoured upon subject within the school as the Head Teacher started his career as a Science teacher NQT and has held every position within a Science Department throughout his career. Occasionally the Head Teacher will cover or teach Science lessons as he enjoys being involved and working at "ground level" with his staff. The Science department is built up of 12 Science Teachers and two Science Technicians. There is a HOD who is also Head of Physics, A Head of Biology, a Head of Chemistry and then an additional 9 Science teachers with responsibility elsewhere through the school.

To be considered for this Science Teacher post, you must have the following:

  • A relevant degree
  • Qualified Teacher Status following the completion of your teacher training
  • Strong subject knowledge
  • The ability to confidently teach Science up to GCSE
  • The ability to confidently teach your specialist subject (Biology, Chemistry or Physics) up to A-level

Although Teaching and Learning responsibility experience is massively favoured upon it is not essential as the department is strong enough to support you in your on-going development.

The School

This gender specific school caters to 940 students between the ages of 11-19. The schools was reported as the following in their most Ofsted report:

  • Effectiveness of leadership and management - Outstanding
  • Quality of teaching, learning and assessment - Outstanding
  • Personal development, behaviour and welfare - Outstanding
  • Outcomes for pupils - Outstanding
  • 16 to 19 study programmes - Outstanding

It has been nearly six years since the last OFSTED and Diocesan Inspections at this school. During this time it has become increasingly difficult to gain the highest grades, particularly in OFSTED inspections. To receive 'Outstanding' grades in every category is only achieved by around 8% of secondary schools nationally.
