My client is a leading independent healthcare communications group which is currently looking for a talented, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial Editorial Director/Associate Editorial Director to join their team in their London and Cheshire offices.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing the company and its clients with editorial, scientific and strategic expertise. The successful candidate will lead a publications team and manage a team of medical writers and scientific advisers. Our client works on global commercial and medical affairs accounts and you will be fully responsible for the resourcing, recruitment and running of the editorial department.

Responsibilities:

Provide editorial, scientific and strategic expertise to leading international pharmaceutical clients and colleagues within the agency
Be part of the core management team of the company, contributing to company strategy, finance, business development and execution
Provide leadership and mentoring support to the team
Maintain the group’s scientific integrity, writing excellence, quality control and productivity
Responsible for editorial quality control processes, including copy review
Oversee and assign editorial projects ensuring that they are completed on time
Actively participate in management team meetings and activities

Knowledge, Skills and abilities

Life Science Degree, ideally a PhD or MSc
Several years of experience working in a medical communications agency in an editorial management capacity
Experience in oncology (haematology) is preferred, but they are happy to consider applicants with experience of other therapeutic areas
Excellent organisational and project management skills
Good people skills and line management experience
Ability to travel within the UK and internationally
