Adecco Recruitment - the world's largest Recruitment Agency - is currently looking for a fulltime Finance Manager (35 hrs) for our prestigious client working in the Non-Profit sector. This is a rare opportunity to get real, hands-on experience working for a Cardiff-based international Charity wherein you can make an active difference to the lives of children and families in remote African countries.

The core responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, and as a member of the organisation's Management Team, the Finance Manager will fully administer the accounting, internal control and oversight of its finances. The Finance Manager will liaise with external accountants and have responsibility for the financial operations of the charity. This role incorporates both strategic and operation responsibilities at all levels to ensure that the charity's finances are in order and comply with statutory requirements, to provide confidence to donors in the rigour of the approach to financial management in the charity and to ensure that financial information is effectively communicated. The role will have the support of the Operations Manager and a part time Finance Officer.

ORGANISATIONAL STRATEGY

Support the Stakeholders in developing the charity's strategic and financial plans by:
* Ensuring appropriate processes are in place to minimise financial risk
* Leading on all financial components of the organisational strategy
* Maintaining core principle of cost effectiveness and low bureaucracy
* Advising on and ensuring compliance with appropriate governing bodies

Financial Stewardship:
* Preparing annual accounts
* Working with external accountants and advisors
* Holding internal responsibility for the day-to-day finances of the charity
* Producing management accounts
* Managing the charity's cash flow in multiple currencies
* Managing treasury balances
* Producing the charity's annual operational and grant budgets/forecasts, with support and input from the Management Team
* Monitoring expenditure against budgets
* Holding responsibility for the completion and submission of the Annual Report and end-of-year accounts for Charity Commission and any other statutory body
* Acting on safe investment decisions for funds

Financial Operations:
* Processing financial information in accordance with the Charity's procedures and processes
* Processing salary payments
* Authorising payments
* Signing off monthly bank reconciliations
* Signing off Gift Aid claims
* Ensuring the correct monthly National Insurance and pension payments and any other statutory payments are made to the relevant bodies
* Supervising and approving disbursements to partner organisations
* Ensuring Data Protection regulations are adhered to

Financial Procedures:
* Developing, maintaining and improving financial systems and procedures
* Ensuring appropriate risk management techniques and financial controls are embedded throughout the charity

OTHER DUTIES:

Programme:
* Assessing project proposals from a financial perspective.
* Managing contracts with partners
* Reviewing partner financial reports and provide specific feedback and guidance on compliance
* Providing financial information to the Trustees' Programme Committee as required.

Fundraising:
* Actively participating in fundraising events
* Preparing information for potential donors
* Tracking income, maximising Gift aid income

PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Essential:
* At least AAT qualified
* Experience of financial administration and management
* The ability to identify and manage financial risk
* IT skills at a level that support the strategic development and implementation of financial systems
* Ability to develop and implement financial policies, procedures and processes to ensure the successful running of the organisation
* Ability to represent the charity professionally externally
* High-quality writing skills for the production of both internal and external documents

Personal Competencies:
* A confident, positive personality
* Ability to plan and prioritise workloads, and keep to targets and deadlines
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to function in a multi-cultural team across several locations
* Ability to work alone and use own initiative
