About the position:

RLE International is looking for a Manager of its Vehicle Electric and Electronics group to work in our Basildon, Product Development Centre location to own, manage and support all aspects of Vehicle Electrical activity including vehicle powertrain electrification from creating the vehicle design attributes that ensure a robust system to final delivery of a vehicle to the customer to the highest quality standards.

The Candidate must have automotive industry experience, with a track record of success, and a broad understanding of automotive industry requirements and standards. We are looking for a hands-on leader, who will embrace the company’s cultural and professional business environment and will work directly with our customers and with the various suppliers involved in developing and manufacturing EE vehicle systems.

We are looking for an individual who can excel, ideally with former experience, working in an engineering service environment. The Manager of Electric and Electronics goal will be to create an atmosphere of collaboration between our customer to win new contracts and to manage our internal workforce with current and newly awarded projects all while driving implementation of Best Practices and ensuring delivery of the highest level of quality services to our customers.

The Manager of Electric and Electronics will be responsible for working closely with the Ford Key Account Manager in support of business development. This position will also require the management of currently awarded Electric and Electronic projects ongoing in our Basildon Product Development Centre. There shall be close collaboration between other RLE Product Development Centres globally to ensure a coordinated and unified customer approach.

The responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to:

Maintain customer relationships and serves as the EE engineering key contact person with the customer for EE business development and engineering issues and requirements
Leads and coordinates plans to ensure customer expectations and supporting tasks are achieved
Lead and manage a team to complete the agreed to tasks on time
Define and negotiate engineering requirements with the customer
Gain in-depth understanding of customer requirements/requests to give clear and concise instructions to the RLE engineering team
Oversee/perform electrical system bench/vehicle tests and provide analysis on issues found
Work out solutions to engineering issues within the RLE electrical engineering team and report to the customer as required
Provides technical leadership over the team and development activities
Manages and facilitates issues, processes, and activities within and across department functions
Create, implement, and improve current processes in place and add new ones as needed
Propose budget and staffing plan to upper management and hire/train necessary human resources to build a strong team to support current programs and future business expansion
Mentor and train the team during development and keep team up to date with technology

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Extensive experience in automotive electrical systems engineering, development & testing. Powertrain electrification experience a plus
Experience within a management position
Familiarity with automotive (OEM) specifications, Specific Ford knowledge preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively operate and communicate in a multi-cultural environment
Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
Specific knowledge of ADAS a plus
Familiar with Diagnostic Engineering Tools. Familiar with Ford products a plus
Knowledge of Vector Canoe, Analysis of CAN traces and analyse LIN communication
Ford experience highly advantageous
Ensure compliance with ISO/TS16949 & ISO26262 requirements for all sites engaged in RLE related operations
Supports RLE sites with the implementation of best in class housekeeping (5S) improvements in accordance with Automotive related industry standards
Perform safety management activities to relevant standards during all project phases including preliminary hazard analysis, DFMEA, FMEDA, qualitative and quantitative fault tree analysis
Develop/manage safety architectures and safety plans to ensure compliance with ISO26262
Develop and responsible for all EE internal training to all RLE EE staff as needed
Ensure effective communication, containment and action plans with regards to quality related issues
Support effective root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions are implemented for quality issues
