Design Engineer
Excellent opportunity for a Design Engineer to join a rapidly growing automotive aftermarket pioneer who specialise in delivering switchable performance re-map software to vehicle Engine Control Units (ECU). My client has global reach, with distribution in over 40 countries with an authorised network of over 400 Authorised Dealers and Performance Centres. You would be joining a talented and award winning team of over 40 experienced automotive engineers, technicians, designers, electronics specialists and technical support experts.
They are currently looking to continue their growth with the addition of a Junior/Graduate Design Engineer, with an interest in the automotive and motorsport sectors and with a good understanding of the mechanical aspects of design.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have the ability to use their own initiative when required. Good problem solving, communication skills and attention to detail are key. You will be required to work under pressure to tight deadlines, coming up with your own designs based on a project requirement. The designs will then need to be moved through the stages from concept, to mock up, samples, testing and evaluation and finally sign off, so a good hands-on practical individual would be ideal.
Key responsibilities:
* Conceptual and detailed design of vehicle components and systems
* Assist in taking design concept through to product sign off
* Fault diagnosis and resolution
* Performance monitoring and roadside support
* Develop understanding of system performance and development
* Assist with all areas of design
* Design of Jig and tooling components
* Testing and monitoring of design through entire project
Knowledge, Key skills and Experience:
* High level of proficiency with 3D CAD modelling using Solidworks, including surfacing, lofts and detailed pipe work.
* Ability to reverse engineer parts from OEM components
* Knowledge of composites and metallic materials and manufacturing techniques
* Hands on design skills
* Experience/interest in the automotive and motorsport, (or similar), sectors.
