Our client is a very successful mechanical building services provider of heating, plumbing, ventilation and air conditioning services to a wide range of clients throughout the UK.

Due to their continued expansion Staffbase has been appointed to recruit for the position of Mechanical Design Engineer.

The successful candidate will be required to produce detailed HVAC design proposals for'design and build' projects and continue them through to construction status.

The Role:

Reporting to the Technical director you will be responsible for the effective delivery of detailed design proposals through to construction status. Project size /value ranging from £300k to £3M in sectors such as retail, education, health and food.

Key tasks will include but is not limited to the following;

* Review tender documents and produce high level 'HVAC' system design solutions
* Ensure value engineering considerations and innovations with all major build work
* Liaise with manufacturers and sub-contractors to provide robust technical submissions ensuring all plant and associated materials meet design brief / specification.
* Ensure effective communication of design proposals to sub contractors and their clients during design meetings (or other) as necessary and generate/track RFI's as the design process evolves.
* Undertake site surveys as and when required
* From time to time assist the estimating team with pencil drawings for speculative tender enquiries

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will be a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with at least 5 years experience in the building services industry - (Contracting or Consultancy Background)

You will have excellent knowledge of Building regulations (Part L) and a good understanding of gas regulations, F gas, SBEM, Thermal Models, SAP, BRUKL and BREEAM targets.
In addition you will hold the following certification / qualifications;

* BTEC Building Services HNC as a minimum
* CIBSE or similar Accredited Body Association
* AutoCAD / Revit Experience would be beneficial

Experience in producing long hand designs in excel and / or HEVACOMP to assist with pipe, duct and main plant sizing.
