JOB PURPOSE

To identify innovations that can improve patient care and bring efficiency to the service. As part of their work we have established an innovation exchange that searches for innovations assesses their viability and supports their adoption into the NHS. To support this work they are looking for a part time research analyst who can support the establishment of a structured quality assurance process for the analysis and recommendations of innovations that could be adopted into health and care. The process will need to facilitate the information capture and assessment to enable an excellent innovation assessment

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Relevant degree or equivalent work-related experience
•Relevant post graduate education being undertaken or completed
•Evidence of continuous personal development including programme management
•Evidence of establishing or managing research analyst system in life science innovation.

SKILLS

•Ability to analyse and assess the value and veracity of innovations in the healthcare arena.
•Ability to create QA systems for innovation assessment
•Ability to apply/undertake simple health economic evaluations
•Excellent search and analysis skills applied in the life science /healthcare setting.
•Ability to develop strong relationships with executive level stakeholders, clinicians and other health and care professionals and patients or patient groups
•Excellent written communication skills; able to write clearly and concisely, producing reports and business cases
•Ability to prioritise, work to, and set deadlines and function effectively under pressure with competing demands
•Track record of delivery
•Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
•Advanced skills in Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Excel.
•Ability to concentrate intensely for long periods of time
•Effective decision making based on evidence, reason and judgement

KNOWLEDGE

Excellent understanding of healthcare innovations and applying analysis of their impact
•Excellent understanding of research skills, data and evidence analysis
•Highly developed knowledge and understanding of the NHS, including tariff and payment systems,
understanding of the Five Year Forward View, analysis undertaken by NICE and other innovation assessments.
•Awareness of strategic challenges facing the NHS (with a working knowledge of Eastern region preferred).

EXPERIENCE

Experience (3 yrs plus) of research analysis and innovation assessment processes.
•Experience of establishing QA assessment processes for healthcare related innovations/ products
•Experience of evaluating innovations/healthcare products and providing analysis of the value of these
