At Select Norwich we are currently recruiting for a talented Head Chef on behalf of our client, a luxury country house hotel based near Colchester. The hotel serves light lunches and afternoon teas in a relaxed yet elegant setting.

The Role

  • Skilfully cook with the finest quality ingredients in a high pressure environment
  • Work within a small brigade, ensuring the exceptionally high standards are consistently maintained
  • As Head Chef, you will be fully responsible for the kitchen, ensuring that quality is never compromised
  • The Head Chef must delegate, instruct and motivate the small kitchen team; constantly assess the performance of the kitchen
  • Use passion, flair and knowledge to adapt the menu, creating innovative dishes with seasonal and locally sourced produce

Experience and Skills required

  • Head Chef must have previous experience in a similar role, or be an experienced Senior Sous Chef with ambition to progress further in their career
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Experienced working with fresh produce in a high volume establishment; the kitchen can often serve 600-800 afternoon teas per month

Salary and Benefits

  • £24,000-27,000 + great tips
  • Working hours are generally 7am-5.30pm with only 100 evening shifts per year (e.g. for private functions or weddings)
