An opportunity has arisen for a Male Support Worker, to become a valued member of the team in a small Supported Living service for adults with learning disabilities and physical disabilities and mental health needs in Huddersfield.

This position is part time, 30 hours per week on a rota basis of early late and sleep over shifts.

Support Worker Role :

Supporting adults in a supported setting with learning and physical disabilities and mental health needs.

Provide support to service users with learning disabilities and mental health problems and physical disabilities with everyday tasks such as preparing and eating meals, personal care, attending appointments, shopping etc.

As a Support Worker, you will ensure person centred care is provided, care plans are followed and updated and CQC standards are met.

Encouraging service users with learning disabilities to partake in social and community events, sport such as swimming, hobbies, day trips, short holidays, support in going to the cinema, theatre, meals in restaurants, pubs and social evenings etc.

Provide personal care and manual handling.

Skills / Qualifications :

Ideally have NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care

Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate with service users with learning disabilities, team members and other professionals such as social workers.

Ability to listen and motivate individuals to partake in hobbies, learning development and social events to help them lead fulfilling and independent lives.

Understanding of learning disabilities, and complex health needs

Willingness to work flexible hours.

Experience of using hoists and manual handling an advantage
