As a Teaching Assistant, you should have experience of working in a challenging and fast-paced environment. Your responsibilities will include working closely with the teaching staff using your prior knowledge of complex learning difficulties, ASD and SLD needs to assist learners to achieve their targets. You will also contribute to the planning and preparation of learning activities to enable learners to develop their English and maths and vocational skills such as Motor Vehicle, Engineering and Construction. Flexibility to work in other areas of the College is also required in this position.

You will also be required to carry out administrative tasks to support teaching and learning as required by the SENCo and colleagues you support in our curriculum areas.

In supporting learners, you will need to be able to engage with them effectively to help in the assessment of their support needs and eligibility for exam concessions. You will provide additional support to enhance learning and improve attainment and learner achievement. Monitoring and evaluation of the progress and development of learners with special educational needs or disabilities is also a responsibility of this exciting and challenging role.

If you are a high achiever and are always seeking ways to develop and improve service delivery, then this role is for you. You should be proactive and able to work on your own initiative. Good communication skills (written and spoken) and effective time management and organisational abilities are essential requirements for the role.

As a provider of learning to young people and vulnerable adults, the College expects all employees to be familiar with and promote safeguarding requirements. As such you would be expected to actively support the College's values, policies and procedures, particularly responding to those relating to Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, data protection and information sharing.
