Vetro Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Deputy Manager in Newport to work in a 10 bed residential setting for adults with autism. Reporting in to the registered manager the deputy manager will have direct line management responsibility for up to 5 senior support workers.

Salary: £20,500 - £23,250 + Overtime hours available

Location: Newport

Hours of work: 37 hours per week

Shift patterns: 7-day rota with a mixture of mornings and afternoons (7.30am – 3.00pm and 2.30pm – 10.00pm) including some weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities:

As a team leader you will be responsible for the following;

* Provide mentoring, support and plan the development and management of support staff. Tasks may include writing and updating team rosters, monitoring and observing performance, overseeing staff training.
* Actively participate in the planning cycle, specifying ongoing improvements and any required developments to be achieved in the year, “owned” by the people receiving the service (or advocates/relatives) and by the teams delivering them, in line with the company objectives.
* Oversee and ensure effective staff performance management in line with policy and procedures for all senior support and support staff (recruitment, probation, supervision, appraisal, learning & development, conduct, attendance etc).
* Ensure that staff have access to appropriate learning and development opportunities that ensure excellent support to individuals in line with support agreements and legal and regulatory compliance.
* Through mentoring and reflective learning ensure that employees are able to apply experience and learning in their everyday work.
* Ensure that all expenditure is within the agreed costings in conjunction with the annual budget. Monitor and audit financial transactions within service to ensure compliance and accuracy and report any discrepancies. You may also have responsibility for banking transactions and petty cash
* To have overall responsibility for a specific work area and to deputise for the service (Registered) manager in their absence.
* Maintain working relationships with care managers, other representatives of purchasers including families of people we support.
* Ensure that people we support have access to mainstream agencies and amenities in their communities.
* Actively support the people we work with to experience life opportunities which promote the maximising potential and fulfilling their dreams.
* Enable community presence and participation as desired by the individual being supported.
* Practical demonstration on an ongoing basis of reflective learning, blended learning and any other training requirements for the role both statutory and in-service
* Actively contribute and maximize the supervision, appraisal and personal development experience.
* To maintain Continuous Personal Development in line with statutory registration requirements and internal CPD and in leadership and management skills.
* Commit to mentoring and developing team members.
* To facilitate effective team work promoting a positive and learning culture within the work place.
* To contribute to strategic service development in line with the corporate vision and values.
* To facilitate the development and training of staff in topics/areas allocated by the service manager.
* To ensure that staff are up-to-date in mandatory training and to provide opportunities for further development.
* To understand the role of the relevant care regulatory body (CQC) and the statutory standards required for the work setting and to support meeting all required standards in accordance with legislative requirements.
* Comply with safeguarding requirements, including leading notifications to relevant bodies if required.

The successful candidate:

* The candidate is expected to have a level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care
* Holding a full driving licence is desirable
* Experience of working in a residential setting
* Experience of line management/ managing a team
