“A best in class and independent business providing expertise in surfacing/asphalt for major projects and maintenance frameworks.

Location

Suffolk

The Company

You will be joining one of, if not, the largest independent surfacing company in the UK. As a privately-owned business that the owners have grown to a turnover of £80M pa from a standing start not more than 15 years ago, this is an ambitious and already reputable business with a solid national presence in the surfacing industry. This role will see you working for a surfacing sector leading contractor within a growing UK highways management and maintenance industry. They have built the business on a drive to deliver best in class service and results with the capacity to deliver a full complement of road surfacing and associated services, developing outstanding relationships with blue chip clients across the highways, major infrastructure, airports, defence, commercial, education, residential, education, health, and sport sectors. Operating extensively in the Highways and Major Infrastructure sectors, you should expect to be engaged on projects/frameworks including Asset Support Contracts for major Highways England ‘areas’ and major road improvement works/projects.

About the Job

This opening will see you work as part of an already established commercial team based in the East Anglian region. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be involved in all day to day commercial activities of surfacing schemes/projects from inception to completion including measuring of works, management of subcontractors, payments, early warnings, compensation events, final accounts etc.

The Ideal candidate

If you already have experience working as a Quantity Surveyor on civil engineering/highways term maintenance frameworks then you will certainly be from the mould we are looking at for this position. Surfacing experience is not essential but would prove to be a distinct benefit in picking up the baton right from the start of life in your new job. It will be evident when you start on your first day in the new position, that you have joined a specialist business with a ‘can do’ attitude and approach to client needs so you will need to be like-minded in your approach to work as well as mirroring the contractor’s other key attributes being professional, hard-working and ambitious.

The Requirements

We are keen to engage with Quantity Surveyors at varying levels to discuss the opportunity in more detail so whether you are new to the industry as a Trainee or Assistant Quantity Surveyor or have a few years under your belt and looking for a new challenge then pick up the phone and give me a call. This is a great chance to specialise with a company that can take your career to the next level.

This is an Intermediate level role so it is vital that you do have at least a year or two of experience in carrying out the relevant roles/responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor (NEC contract experience) but it is also a perfect opening to step up and demonstrate your skills if you think you are up to the additional responsibility.

Remuneration

As always, the salary on offer is commensurate with experience but is extremely competitive in the current market. You should expect to achieve in the region of £28,000 to £40,000 pa depending on the level you have been working at and the skills and experience you can offer the role. You will also be rewarded with an extensive benefits package and a car or car allowance.
