Production Engineer - Automotive CNC machining
Location: West Midlands
Salary: £35-45000

A local Automotive Manufacturing company now require a Production Engineer to join their team.

Production Engineer - Key duties
Working in a dedicated CNC machining production facility, you will be instrumental in all aspects of production for high volume, high precision Automotive components - from concept through to customer deliver.

- Manufacturing process planning + optimisation
- NC program manipulation + modification using Siemens controls
- Cutting tool optimisation - improving CPP, tool wear and quality performance
- Fixture design and procurement when appropriate
- Customer liaison on design for manufacture, feasibility and general technical issues
- Support machine cell operator`s with tool setting, programming and problem solving when required
- Introduce and progress New Products through development
- Liaise with machine tool and equipment suppliers
- Cost Estimation
- Setting and operation of CNC machines for the prove out process of new products

Production Engineer - Experience
The ideal candidate MUST come from the Manufacturing industry as a Production Engineer. You will also have the following skills, qualifications and experience:

- You will hold a HNC, HND or BEng in an Engineering related subject
- You are likely to already be working as a Production Process Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer within an automotive machine shop environment, producing complex and accurate components either from prismatic blocks or castings.

- CNC / CAM programming preferable with good off line capability for high speed driven tool turning and high speed 4 axis milling.
- Appreciation of dimensional checking and CMM inspection methods
- Expert knowledge of technical drawings, geometric tolerances and practices

- Expert knowledge of cutting tool concepts and a demonstrable ability to optimise costs

- Experience of Chiron twin spindle machines and Siemens PLC controls a significant advantage

- Experience of Artis tool detection system preferable
- Experience of Fanuc robotics preferable
