Reed’s Midlands Engineering team are now working with a large manufacturing brand who have facilities all over the world; and their Grantham site are currently looking to add a Design Engineer to their team to support with business growth.

Different sites of the company master in their field, this one being the manufacturer of precision engineered solutions for a variety of industries. With customers providing the ideas and plans, this company will design and manufacture the product to meet the customer’s demands.

The role

Working within a small team and reporting to a Technical Manager the Design Engineer will have a role that goes beyond just designing and will include:

Liaising with the customer regarding their ideas for the product and discussing various design and manufacturing options with them. You will also be reporting to them throughout the production cycle of the product and keeping them informed of progress.

Working alongside the procurement team and speaking with suppliers to ensure quality materials are sourced for the manufacturing stage.

The design of specialist products using 2D and 3D Cad Systems.

The creation of Engineering drawings and schematics for the manufacturing of the product and also assembly if necessary.

Providing expertise and solutions if required should the product meet any manufacturing, test or quality issues. This will also involve investigations and analysis.

Ensuring all products that are designed and manufactured adhere to company and wider business regulations.

Being aware of Continuous Improvement opportunities, which could include ways to speed up manufacturing process or alternative material sourcing.

The person

For this role, it will be ideal that you have a recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a discipline similar to this.

You should also have the ability to use 2D and 3D Cad packages and also be familiar with a number of software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

You will also be able to read engineering drawings, and be able to explain these to internal and external stakeholders.

If you can bring experience working with hydraulic components and hydraulic circuits, this would be extremely ideal for this role.
Please note, there can be travel involved with this position, both across the UK and abroad.
