Associate - Client Onboarding and Due Diligence
Partnering with staff in the Front Office, Compliance and Operations departments to ensure that firm knows its Customers, operates appropriate systems and controls to prevent Money Laundering and performs due diligence on transactions, in a manner consistent with the standards required by the UK Regulatory Authorities and Best Practices in the prevention of financial crime.
Key Work Output And Accountabilities
Provide guidance and assistance to Front Office staff on the On boarding of new clients and the relevant KYC/Sanctions procedures, including the KYC documentation requirements and sources of information to retrieve KYC information.
Review and analysis of account opening proposals and supporting KYC documents for compliance with UK regulatory and sanctions regime requirements.
Recognise high risk files, PEP's, adverse information, reputational risk and other compliance/financial crime risk triggers - undertake enhanced due diligence on these files and escalate where necessary.
Provide On boarding Control / Compliance (or relevant escalation team) with accurate KYC / Due Diligence for final review and sign-off.
Conduct analysis and due diligence on alerts received
Liaise with various departments in relation to the alerts received, ensuring application of knowledge and expertise in decision making on whether to Pay / Not Pay or escalate.
Undertake offline quality assurance checks on sample basis for alerts.
Assist Compliance where required in sourcing additional Enhanced Due Diligence information.
Assist in the analysis and resolution of any AML / KYC / Sanctions queries generated from various departments. Assist in maintaining regular statistics for management information reporting
Required Qualifications And Experience
Experience of working within a Client On boarding / Compliance / Financial Crime team with exposure to money laundering, embargo, sanctions, high risk markets Detailed knowledge of JMLSG ; Money Laundering Regulations, International Sanctions: OFAC/HMT/UN Ability to analyse data for investigative purposes
