Leading Manufacturer, test, refurb and repairer of rolling stock components

Position Summary

Due to work growth we are looking to engage, initially on contract, an experienced Assembly Fitter to join our Test and Assembly Team. The role will entail the overhaul, repair, assembly and test of a variety of Rolling Stock equipment, (to include warranty returns, refurbished and new components), callipers, actuators, discs, couplers and brake control equipment.

The role will also require skills to perform the build of test installations, operate them and interpret the results in order to adjust units to required settings to achieve required outputs

Person Profile/Experience:

A skilled and ideally Time Served Mechanical Fitter, you will be confident in breakdown and assembly of a large range of technical components, is able to fault find and analyse fit and finish to ascertain if the units are serviceable and establish what work is required to make good overhaul and repairs. Where required complete paperwork/documentation to ensure records are maintained outlining work required/completed along with necessary component changes

You will have experience of manufacturing/overhaul processes and general engineering knowledge as a minimum; it would be useful to have a reasonable level of electrical competency

A Team Player, you will have experience in reading and working to technical documents and specifications and have a proven history in detailed bench and assembly fitting work
Experience is essential although localised subject matter skills will be taught

Ultimately you will be able to problem solve and work in such a way that the focus is on prevention over cure. You will be flexible to change and must have a flexible attitude to work patterns as there may be shift changes from time to time


NVQ Level 2 or 3 in a Mechanical Fitting skill set
Mechanical Fitting/Engineering experience
