Linux Lead Infrastructure Analyst - Central London - £50K - 75K + 12.5% - 15% bonus

This would be a great role for a Linux Sys Admin / Unix Systems Administrator who’s moved onto things cloud/DevOps and who is looking to join a large and interesting organisation.

To be successful for this Linux Lead Infrastructure Analyst role, you need the following skills / experience:

Demonstrable experience in IT Infrastructure provisioning within operational environments.

Knowledge and practical experience to the level of Senior System Engineer for the majority of the following technical areas:

* Expert understanding of one or more UNIX base operating systems, with one or more of Solaris and Linux being an advantage, particularly RHEL / Red Hat and derivatives

* Knowledge and experience of deployment to one or more of public / hybrid / private cloud platforms backed by experience of doing this in a business context– ideally experience of provisioning to AWS (Amazon Web Services).

* Good knowledge of one or more scripting languages such Shell script, Perl, Python etc.

* Knowledge of Orchestration / Automation technologies as well as demonstrated competence in one or more of the leading toolsets such as Chef, Ansible, Salt, Puppet etc.

Any experience in the following will also be of interest – but is NOT essential:

* Experience of working in a DevOps driven environment, specifically around automated and repeatable provisioning and maintenance of Infrastructure elements.

* Knowledge of networking principles (ideally in a Cisco environment).

* Knowledge and experience of formal business operations procedures (e.g. ITIL)

* Good infrastructure services knowledge (SMTP, DNS, DHCP, RADIUS)

* Strong understanding of Security principles, practices and technologies in relation to infrastructure.

* Understanding (and ideally experience of) of Disaster Recovery (DR) Planning and testing.

* Any ability to carry out forensic analysis of infrastructure logs to support investigation of security events

* VMWare - experience of build, configuration, on-going support and maintenance of standalone and vCenter-clustered environments including network and storage configuration against best operational and security practice.

* Knowledge / Capability of alternate virtualisation products (Solaris Zones, Hyper-V)

As a Linux Lead Infrastructure Analyst, your main duties will be:

* Provide expertise across all of the systems managed - with a particular emphasis on Solaris, Linux, Enterprise storage & cloud platforms.

* Design, develop & support infrastructure services including DHCP, DNS & SMTP

* Maintain & strengthen collaboration between the Infrastructure & the Architecture Group.

* Support the DevOps ambitions of the IT function with a skill set including: languages such as Shell script, Perl, Python & Java. Including experience of both cloud & on premise infrastructure via orchestration tools such as Chef, Ansible, Salt, Puppet etc.

* Provide 1st/2nd line DBA support

* Contribute to design & development of messaging systems including particularly the underlying SMTP platform.

* Provide infrastructure expertise around virtualisation technologies, particularly VMware & Hyper-V,

* Mentor junior members
