Therapeutic Art Teacher
Are you passionate about Art? Would you consider yourself to be a therapeutic artist? Can you pass your knowledge and enthusiasm onto students who could really use your help and expertise? If so then please keep reading for an exciting opportunity in the Halsted area:
Our clients are an independent school for students with communication, behavioural, emotional and social needs. They are looking for an experienced teacher who is a passionate and therapeutic artist. Full QTS would be an advantage; however our clients are also willing to consider non qualified teachers with a real love of art.
The successful candidate will be teaching students aged 13-17 in both small groups and on a 1:1 basis. In addition to Art, you may also be asked to help out with other subjects and carry out cross curricular teaching. An interest in Science would be advantageous but is not essential.
This is a permanent position to start in September 2017 and is a great opportunity for either an experienced teacher to move away from mainstream education or for a non qualified teacher to gain some teaching experience. It is also an opportunity to:
- Further your experience working with students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis
- Expand your knowledge of working with students with challenging behaviour
- Be offered ongoing CPD and progression opportunities
- Work at a special school that were graded as "Good" in all areas on their last Ofsted Inspection.
The successful candidate must have the interpersonal skills needed to effectively communicate with staff and students. Previous experience working with Mental Health would also be advantageous.
Having visited the school on many occasions and having spent time with some of their students I have always found everybody there to be warm and welcoming. The individual needs of the students are always considered and the extra activities such at their allotment help to make learning fun. I really do feel this is a great school to work at, particularly if you are looking to work somewhere where you can help make a difference.
Although predominately based at the Schools Halsted site, their will be occasions when you are required to visit their Clare site and their allotment, hence a car driver with own transport is required.
Please send your CV to Greg Burns, who is our dedicated SEN Consultant and will be happy to guide you through each step of the process from your application, right up to you starting at the School.
