C# .NET Infrastructure Engineer, Watford, £50K

Our client is recruiting for a lead .NET infrastructure engineer to extend, support and maintain our cloud hosting infrastructure and the software we host on it, our middleware platform. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious and experienced individual with enthusiasm for technology. The role comes with substantial responsibility and opportunity to be a key part of our technology team, taking us from a single-site AWS deployment into areas such as auto-scaling, self-testing systems and much more hands-off system deployment.
 

Responsibilities 

- Responsibility for managing cloud-hosted applications
- Design and leading the build of our next-generation cloud hosting system, including system deployment tools, monitoring facilities and cost control requirements
- Ensuring that  systems are fit-for-scale, working with the rest of the development and executive teams to prepare for new clients and our feature roadmap
- Reporting into upper management on system performance, and liaising with the client services team to manage client expectations and dependencies
- Working with the operations team to deliver on  stringent Service Level Agreements, ensuring we carry on meeting our uptime and reliability commitments

 

Skills and Experience

 

- Education to degree level or equivalent
- Strong experience in designing, building and scaling cloud-based .NET applications using environments like Amazon Web Services
- Experience in working with front-line production systems with demanding reliability requirements
- Experience working with NoSQL databases, with MongoDB highly desirable
- Minimum of 5 years` experience in commercial C# and .NET development, web and otherwise
- Web technologies such as Javascript, (X)HTML, CSS, jQuery
- Good understanding of Object Orientated programming and modern design (design patterns, MVC etc)
- Strong interpersonal skills, and it`s vital that you are a strong team player, motivated by individual and organisational success
- Ability to use own initiative and pay close attention to detail
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Positive attitude to dealing with people and problems
- Enthusiasm as an experienced user of technology products, such as smart-phones and tablets
- Up to date knowledge of the technology market, and a drive to make great products even better
- Experience working in a rapid Agile environment
- Version control using Git and Subversion
- Systems integration using REST and SOAP web services
- Excellent spoken and written English
