My client, a large construction based on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds are currently recruiting for a Senior Financial Analyst to work within the Financial Planning & Analysis section of their Finance Department.

Job Purpose

To maintain and support the development of budgeting, forecasting and business planning processes and reporting; to maintain processes to deliver valuable insight and analysis on key areas of business performance; to support system development initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting, Forecasting and Business Planning


Support the annual budgeting and business plan update process, including:
Supporting budget holders through the process to ensure completeness and consistency;
Producing outputs that meet the requirements of Senior Management and budget holders;
Delivering insight and analysis of budgets and business plans to ensure long-term trends are identified and communicated to stakeholders.
Support the development and maintenance of long-term scenario-based financial models for the Group consistent with current budget/forecast assumptions and business plans. In particular:
Supporting the development and maintenance of long-term models that underpin the Group’s corporate treasury and financing requirements;
Supporting the Finance Manager – FP&A and Group Finance Manager – Treasury, Tax & Financial Planning in the development of ad hoc models to support investment, business development and other corporate initiatives.

Insight & Analysis

Support processes to deliver insight and analysis regarding key areas of business performance relating to indirect cost of sales and overheads, including:
Monitoring KPIs, understanding any deviations from expectation and, where required, engaging other members of the Finance team in identifying and implementing remedial actions;
Monitoring financial performance against identified benchmarks (budget, forecast, prior periods), understanding variances and, where required, supporting Senior Management and budget holders in identifying and implementing remedial actions;
Supporting business engagement to ensure maximum value from business unit/department level relationships, gathering information from the business to provide to the Corporate Accounting team to enhance the accuracy of reporting and delivering disaggregated reporting and analysis of real value to the users
Support monthly internal review procedures to enhance Senior Management understanding of business performance, including development of material and agenda for monthly Budget Committee meetings;
Supporting the Finance Manager – FP&A and Group Finance Manager – Treasury, Tax & Financial Planning in maintaining processes to ensure full, efficient corporate treasury compliance.

Systems Development

Support IT teams, project teams and external consultants as required to ensure integrity, development and enhancement of financial accounting, reporting and planning systems.

Experience


Qualified or mid to late stage part qualified accountant, preferably with experience gained in a commercial environment;
Some experience of management accounting;
Comfortable operating at all levels within a business hierarchy;
Able to work in small, focused teams;
