Creative Lead | London | Perm | circa £65,000 p/a + bonus opportunity

My client - a global Telecommunications brand - is recruiting a Creative Lead to be based out of their London operations, and to lead and manage a Creative team based both in the UK and off-shore.

The business is an award-winning brand with millions of customers worldwide. The business culture is entrepreneurial, fast-growing, and fast-paced. Applicants for the Creative Lead role should have both in-house and agency side experience, and be driven to excel in a startup-esque environment.

The Creative Lead will be tasked with providing guidance and creative direction for overall standard, quality and consistency of all creative and design work. The successful applicant will develop creative programs and design concepts that meet the objectives of the business and advance brand strategy.

Leading design projects across all products from initial creative ideas to campaign development and design, the Creative Lead will act as brand guardian and advise on all brand and creative work. You will deliver brand consistency across all touch points globally, ensuring guidelines are adhered to and all work is produced on time, on brief and cost effectively.

The successful candidate will have experience covering both print and digital (ideally 50/50), and be well versed in developing, executing, and policing brand guidelines. A successful career in Design should be evidenced with an online portfolio, and candidates will be expected to have deep knowledge of Adobe CS, in particular InDesign.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Creative Lead/Director or highly experienced Senior Creative to play a key role in the evolution of a Global brand with a niche, expanding customer base.

Skills and Experience

  • Considerable experience and proven track record in strategic design and creative development from initial concept to finished design in both agency and in-house environments
  • Degree level design qualification
  • Previous experience of managing a small design team and managing key stakeholders
  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to interpret a design brief and establish a comprehensive understanding of requirements
  • Extensive experience in delivering creative and effective solutions across multiple platforms, from brief to completion
  • Acute attention to detail and the ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Strong collaborative work ethic and ability to help lead and deliver creative concepts
  • Experience of developing, executing and policing brand guidelines
  • Strong organisation, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to lead, motivate and inspire creative teams
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of key stakeholders within the business
  • Up-to-date knowledge of latest design and cultural trends


Key Responsibilities

  • The authority on design within the business, your team will deliver continuous review and improvement in line with commercial effectiveness and industry trends
  • Transform the creative process to deliver the brand strategy requirements
  • Work with Head of Brand to implement brand ID across all products and materials effectively
  • Deliver and continuously evolve brand design and guidelines for all media channels
  • Establish your role and internal profile as the figurehead on Design approvals, whilst creating a process that makes execution efficient
  • Define a preferred suppliers rosta for design and creative work, working with and advising on briefs
  • Quickly develop a strong relationship with key stakeholders including the CEO and Chairman.
  • Provide leadership and direction to creative designers/direct reports and to assist them in achievement of personal KPIs by creating development plan and through coaching and job training
  • Regular communication with direct reports to ensure development plan is being implemented
  • Set KPIs of direct reports in line with departmental KPIs, and review quarterly
  • Interview and assess potential new employees when required
  • Work with Studio Manager to help improve working practice and allocate projects based on skills
  • Facilitate seamless and effective project development - on time, on brief
  • Deal with or report back to 'UX Lead' on any issues
  • Work with and advise key stakeholders to evolve brand effectively
  • Work with and advise on brand when working with external agencies and/or resource
  • Ensure any work carried out by a third party adheres to brand guidelines and is fit for purpose
  • Engage Design Team and maintain team camaraderie and help new members of the Design Team settle into their roles and assist in their future development
  • Keep up to date with developments in advertising and design
  • Work spans traditional and new media
