The Company

A rapidly expanding branded food business that supplies the majority of the UK`s leading grocery retailers with premium chilled, frozen, and ambient foods. With ambitious but achievable growth plans, they are seeking to appoint a Commercial Manager to drive the sales plan in the UK market.

The Role

The Manager appointed will lead and implement the strategic commercial plan, developing profitable sales growth. With a focus on account management and securing  new business, they will identify commercial opportunities and will nurture specific accounts including the cross-selling of products, developing the account plan, delivering profit targets, and developing new business with under-developed accounts.

The emphasis of this role is on a combination of strategy implementation, account management, winning new business and acting as the commercial link between contract manufacturers and customers. Applicants will need a winning mentality combined with tenacity and relationship building skills. The Commercial Manager will implement structures and systems to ensure sustainable profit and growth of each category by setting relevant targets and managing performance. They will establish the strategic vision and lead the development and implementation of a business plan that will see the company build market share within all categories. 

Although the main focus of this role will be the driving of sales with retail customers, the Commercial Manager will have a broad remit that will extend to administrative and logistics activities such as monitoring order fulfilment figures, forecasting, managing stock levels of finished product, customer research, budgetary responsibility, NPD and marketing. The Commercial Manager will work closely with the Chief Executive, Head of Marketing, Finance Director and Export Manager.

The Person

A desire to work as part of a small dynamic team in a busy, fast-paced growing business is essential. Experience of growing accounts with the ‘big four` grocery multiples is expected, ideally within branded products. All candidates are expected to have worked in a similar position previously, with at least 3 years sales/commercial management experience of selling food / drink products to the major retailers.

The Commercial Manager will be running the commercial function with minimal staff support. The role will appeal to an entrepreneurial individual who can operate effectively in a lean environment where decisions are made quickly and staff are given the autonomy to make decisions that will directly affect the profitability of the business.

The Salary for the role is negotiable circa £60,000 pa + Bonus + Benefits
