An experienced Events Liaison Officer is required to work on a full time temporary assignment based in Gateshead. This position is to start ASAP and ongoing for the next 3 months. Wage is between £10.00 - £11.00 per hour plus holiday pay, depending on experience and the job role includes:

1. To establish and operate systems appropriate for the effective project management and monitoring of safe and legal event delivery in Gateshead, including the preparation of reports and submission of monitoring returns.

2. To liaise with colleagues across the Council including Elected Members, as well as external agencies, community representatives and suppliers to ensure the smooth planning and delivery running of all events throughout the Borough.

3. To offer information, advice and guidance to enable best practice in the planning and safe delivery of events by all stakeholders – both internal and external to the Council. To impart specialist knowledge with regards to licencing, environmental health and highways law to ensure legislation is follow and all legal requirements are adhered to when delivering events in Gateshead.

4. To act as the main relationship manager for ‘Event Managers’ who wish to work in Gateshead and who are developing events plans. The be a main point of contact for external Council partner organisations and community groups and assist in the smooth planning of high profile events, management of VIP visits as well as engagement of Council dignitaries.

5. To compile statistical data, event management information including stakeholder satisfaction activities and other performance management information and produce reports. To advise managers on Service planning and business improvement activities, to improve delivery and the efficiency and quality of outcomes for users and stakeholders

6. To support the planning, co–ordination and submission of any sporting & cultural event information (both internal and external documentation) for consideration by the Safety Advisory Groups (SAG). To manage the administration of the Gateshead Council SAG.

7. Such other responsibilities allocated which are appropriate to the grade of the post.

The successful candidate must:

• Have previous experience in a similar role
• Have knowledge in Health and Safety and other relevant legislation
• Have knowledge in Microsoft office applications
• Have knowledge in relevant legislation and professional issues
• Budget management and financial control.
• Working within an office environment and also outside in arenas and on green sites.
• Able to work with the public over the telephone and in person.
• Able to demonstrate meticulous planning and co-ordination skills.
• Have an excellent understanding in Event Planning.
• Be excellent at using Microsoft Office applications.
• Good organisational skills.
• Flexible approach to working outside office hours.
