SHEQ Advisor (Nottingham) - £22,000 + 2.5% bonus 


Hours 8:30-17:00 Monday-Friday with 1 hour for lunch

Main Purpose of Role:
To support the SHEQ Manager in the development of a strategy to shape the SHEQ function within the company. Working closely with the management team to deliver the SHEQ strategy and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Support the SHEQ Manager in the continuous improvement of the SHEQ Management programme, systems relating to:

- Health & Safety standards across the company to meet 18001 standards (work towards gaining 18001 accreditation).
- Environmental / sustainability standards meeting ISO 14001 standards.
- Quality management systems meeting ISO 9001 standards.
- To support the SHEQ Manager in developing quarterly communications for all sites and levels of staff, to include written information, tool box talks and management briefings.
- Advise line management and assists with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and company standards to include fire prevention, health and safety awareness training, site inspections of company sites.
- Support the SHEQ Manager to produce and deliver strategic plans for SHEQ performance taking into account corporate and customer requirements, which will translate into annual SHEQ plans.
- Assisting in (as required) the investigation and management of incidents (including major incidents), providing advice on root causation, best preventative measures and sharing lessons learned.
- Delivering/arranging employee SHEQ training as required ensuring HR systems records are kept updated in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Provide SHEQ information for tenders.
- Keeping abreast of corporate, regulatory and legislative changes.
- With direction from the SHEQ Manager and where appropriate, arrange and attend System Management Reviews.
- With direction from the SHEQ Manager and where appropriate oversee Vehicle Quality Checks at Workshops, where necessary provide analysis and feedback to the SHEQ Manager.
- In conjunction with the SHEQ Manager monitor local H &S inspections and carry out regular reviews.
- In conjunction with the SHEQ Manager ensure accident reporting meets RIDDOR requirements; investigations are carried out as required.
- Maintain external health surveillance checks for technical staff and maintain records.
- With direction from the SHEQ Manager, ensure risk assessments and resulting actions are completed as per schedule, identifying and highlighting risks as appropriate.
- With direction from the SHEQ Manager and where appropriate carry out internal audits to show compliance with the Standards as per the agreed schedule.
- In conjunction with the SHEQ Manager, provide audit reports and ensure any findings are recorded and resolved in a timely manner.
- Involvement with, and delivery of, ensuring Certification Body (currently BSi) audits are carried out in line with the agreed schedule.
- With direction from the SHEQ Manager, ensure all environmental documentation for example, waste management transfer Notes, are retained and retrievable.
- With direction from the SHEQ Manager, arrange all environmental permits and licences and ensure that they are all kept up to date and compliance verified.

Work Experience

- Proven SHEQ Advisor level background
- Working within a Quality standard/framework – including performing quality audits and training others to perform quality audits
- Ability to use SHEQ systems system including, accessing, inputting, and compiling data
- Able to demonstrate effectiveness in contributing to a small team, including the capacity to review and improve workplace practices
- Working within a Quality standard/framework


- Good general knowledge of quality & environmental systems
- Good knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to the Business
- Good knowledge of health & safety legislation and Approved Codes of Practice (ACoP)
- Good knowledge of Standards relevant to the Business
- Good working knowledge of a workshop environment
- Good level of vehicle industry knowledge/awareness
- The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team successfully
