Our client, a global media and publishing company are looking for a software developer to join their software engineering team based in their London office.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

* A desire to automate everything.
* Configure and automate the provisioning and deployments of software.
* Management of CI and CD environments and tools.
* Manage fully cloud hosted (AWS) infrastructure.
* Instrument effective monitoring and logging of applications such as application health, CPU usage, response times.
* Ability to create utility scripts with Bash or Python.
* Ensure effective caching by instrumenting CDN and multiple PoPs.
* Build attractive charts and dashboards for monitoring key metrics, services, and costs.
* Identifying systems and applications metrics. Providing monitoring and triggers (such as CloudWatch).
* Help shape a 24/7 support framework including: SLA's, escalation paths, tools and procedures.
* Work with wider the DevOps community to set standards and best practices across the business.
* Willingness to mentor and share knowledge with the wider engineering community is a must.

Essential Skills & Requirements

* Key technologies used: AWS, Docker, CircleCI, Terraform, Mongo, Redis, Fastly CDN, nginx, Node, and JS (ES6)
* Previous experience of managing distributed, multi-region infrastructure
* Extensive experience working with cloud infrastructure both in development and maintenance. AWS desireable.
* Familiarity with IP networking: topology, TCP, UDP, SSL, firewalls, VPNs
* Adept at Linux/Unix system and tools including: permissions, configuring firewalls and security configuration
* Experience architected systems with complex caching layers (Varnish, Akamai, Fastly, memcached)
* Collaborative nature with a willingness to mentor and knowledge share with the rest of the engineering team
* Graphana, Graphite and other data graphing tools desireable
* Previous experience working with Docker, or a similar containerisation technology, is desirable.
* Experience of deploying and managing container clusters.
* Speaking foreign languages will be advantageous.
