Our client is looking for an experienced Assistant Arborist.

Skilled tree climber qualified for CS30 / CS31 CS39
Over 12 months experience in a similar role
To ensure the parks and other open spaces throughout the Borough are attractive, clean, safe and welcoming at all times.

To be competent in the principles and practices of all arboricultural operations, for example planting, pruning (root, branch and crown reduction) training, pest and disease control, lopping, felling and grubbing out

To be competent in the use and maintenance of all hand tools and associated equipment used in arboricultural operations to include ropes and ladders.

To be competent in the use and maintenance of all powered tools used in arboricultural operations, to include chain saws, jacks, winches, woodchippers and stump grinders.

To assist with all arboricultural and allied operations in both the Borough’s parks and other open spaces and on the public highway, to include cordoning off work areas

To participate (on a rotational basis) in a 24 hour a day, seven days a week emergency call out service to undertake emergency works in all weather conditions, and in so doing to quickly assess situations and make decisions in order to safeguard the health and safety of both staff and the general public, as well as the integrity of property

To drive vehicles up to 35cwt as required - prior to use, inspect the vehicle to ensure that it is in a road-worthy condition, in accordance with the provisions of current legislation, and to report any defects immediately to your line manager. Qualified staff may be required to tow appropriate equipment.

To assist with ‘on the job’ training of Apprentices to meet the needs of the service.

To undertake appropriate training as required to keep up to date with current legislation
