Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

TM Resourcing (Technical Division) are currently working on some exciting opportunities with one of our leading supplier, plastic manufacturer based in the Manchester area.

Due to growth & success our client is now looking for 3 experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineers to join their team.

Job Duties:

* To carry out general maintenance activities on plastic injection moulding machines, pack-lines and all associated ancillary equipment. You will be required to attend breakdowns in a timely manner and ensure that machines are back in production as soon as possible.
* To undertake, and be responsible for ad hoc project work within the remit of the Maintenance Department.
* To attend and rectify breakdowns/problems on the following equipment:

* Injection moulding machines, Tool water temperature controllers, Hydraulics & pneumatics, Granulators, Conveyors, Water heaters, Automated packaging lines and associated equipment, Printers and label applicators, End of line boxing cells, Beam robots and sprue pickers, 6 Axis robots, Material feed systems and blenders, Moulding machine services, Routine Monitoring, calibration and maintenance of critical process parameters (as agreed with QA) - e.g. water dosing on Autocell pack-lines

* Responsibility for creating safe systems of work and ensuring the safe working practices of maintenance engineers.
* Corrective action taken upon any faults/issues reported during maintenance activities using data supplied by production, identify and prioritise production equipment requiring improvements for reducing machine downtime

* To find out the root cause of any problems/issues with our injection moulding and automation equipment and make permanent repairs.
* To safely stop machines and successfully re-start on completion of maintenance work, ensuring that product is being made to the required quality. To also ensure that automation equipment is function correctly and packing product to the required standard.

Qualifications / Skills:

* A recognised apprenticeship in engineering (multi-skilled with an electrical bias)

* Qualified to NVQ Level 3 as a minimum, an ONC would be a distinct advantage
* Experienced with pneumatics and hydraulics
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing, desirable
* Able to remain calm and maintain high standards of work in a pressurised and time critical environment
* Excellent trouble shooting and analytical skills
* Able to work on own initiative - identifies solutions to problems and recommends improvements
* Highly self-motivated - requires minimal supervision and is able to plan own workload to meet the needs of the business
* Ability to read electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings

* Previous experience in a plastic injection moulding environment
* Knowledge of maintaining, repairing, stopping and re-starting Arburg, BMB and Netstal plastic injection moulding machines
* PLC programming and diagnostics - Mitsubishi, Siemens and Omron. Need to understand ladder logic and be able to fault find using the PLC programme
