Systems Engineer - Flight Mission Control

This is an immediate requirement for a Systems Engineer or Requirements Engineer with experience of working on large bespoke software programmes.

A great opportunity has arisen for a Systems Engineer to work for a leading Aerospace company in the Portsmouth area. This Systems Engineer role will be working to gather customer requirements and for a major £300 million Mission Control programme. This programme is extremely complex and comprises of several sub-systems including software, infrastructure, telecoms, security and RADAR. With over 1000 customer requirements it will give you a real opportunity to work on the front end of such a unique and large scale programme.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with system level requirements on a large software programme.

JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities for this Systems Engineer role

- Requirements analysis and functional decomposition;
- Design of software systems architectures;
- System Performance budgeting;
- Delivery of incremental systems design;
- Authoring of technical specifications;
- Interface definition;
- Technical review of software subsystems;
- Technical analysis of system design issues;
- Interaction with the customer and suppliers;
- Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
- Package and support deployment of releases.
- Analyse and resolve technical and application problems.
- Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget.
- The candidate must be able to demonstrate experience of working within a complex software development.
Air traffic management

Requirements for this Systems Engineer role

- Degree qualified in a relevant subject
- Understanding of software development ideally in a mission / safety critical environment
- Proven experience in a Systems & Software engineering
- Knowledge and experience of basic networking
- Demonstrable proven experience in a pro-active problem solving role
- Experience of working on an equivalent system like mission control systems, mission planning systems, Air traffic management (ATM) or even utility management systems
