CY Partners are currently looking to recruit a Chemical Product Development Manager for a contract chemical manufacturer at their site in Hartlepool.

Responsibilities in this role are to:

• Lead research, experimental investigations, process refinement and scale up of processes from Process Development to production, including pilot stages. Manage development and handover of Production Transfer Data. Lead Process Development Chemists to resolve scale up issues;

• Lead technical transfer process for products already produced at other company sites;

• Examine existing processes, based on problems observed, analyse and improve the processes to provide increased efficiency in terms of yield, cycle time and product quality.

• Be the focal point of communication between Process Support teams and Production Managers.

• Lead and motivate direct reports within areas of responsibility ensuring that relevant operating standards are communicated and understood at all levels, training needs are identified assessed and actioned (working alongside the HR Manager);

• Ensure that SHE requirements are identified, communicated as necessary and adhered to at all times; contribute to the increased focus on site Health and Safety practices and reporting;

• Support process risk assessments, HAZOPS, COSHH Assessments alongside site SHEQ Manager to ensure all processes, new and old, have suitable and adequate assessments in place.

Person specification (Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes)

• Ideally an MChem or PhD in Chemistry
• Extensive plant knowledge, ideally NPI or NPD experience in a batch manufacturing plant
• Hands on commercial experience of Scale-Up / NPD / HAZOP’s
• Experience in project management is desirable
• Reaction & Distillation batch processing in either Fine Chemical or Pharmaceutical Industry
• Plant design, installation and commissioning to production, including written documentation and training packages.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
