This global supplier of Automotive Components with over 160 years expertise, are currently looking for an Environmental, Health & Safety Officer to join their team in the West Midlands.  You will have a proven track record in Environmental Management, ideally gained within a large, manufacturing.  In return, they offer a competitive salary and package including pension, 25 days holiday + stats.

Job Purpose:-

Reporting to the HSE Manager, embedding a culture of EHS as well as maintaining and enhancing effective policies and procedures. This is a challenging role in which you will champion Environmental initiatives and encourage the adoption of best practice and continuous improvement throughout the business. As a result your technical skills and commercial awareness must be complimented by a dynamic, innovative, hands-on approach and with excellent networking and influencing skills.


Support the business in safe and compliant delivery of its environmental services and promote continuous improvement.
Provide input and support in the maintenance of Plant policies and procedures
Ensure that all statutory records, certificates, licences, notifications and notices are in place
Provision of guidance to staff on approach to environmental safety rules, method statements and risk assessments etc.
Approve and conduct risk assessments as appropriate
Monitor environmental performance through auditing and inspections and make suitable recommendations as appropriate
Assess contractors/supplier of services ability and performance over a wide range of work activities
Knowledge of relevant manufacturing practices to ensure compliance with environmental requirements, risk assessments and method statements
Support the continued accreditation to various bodies and standards
Monitor legislative and industry best practice developments and provide guidance and advice as appropriate
Ability to provide clear and concise reports and advise and support staff at all levels
Ability to deliver training across a diverse range of audiences
An understanding of environmental requirements and their impact on work activities
Full UK driving licence

The Suitable Candidate:-

An environmental management background
Previous Health, Safety and Environmental experience gained within a large, manufacturing environment.
IEMA certificate in Environmental Management desirable
NEBOSH certificate in Occupational Health & Safety an advantage
In depth/comprehensive understanding of implementing Safety and Environmental Management Systems to the OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards.
Experience in undertaking incident investigations and producing reports for senior management
Root cause identification, analysis and resolution
Strong written and verbal communication skills and to rationally explain, explore and discuss environmental issues
You will have the confidence and credibility to engage at all levels.
Proven ability to work on your own or in a team
Strong IT skills including a good understanding of MS Office
