BRC are currently recruiting for an Estimator/Surveyor in the Metal Fabrication department of one of our key clients in Devon. This is a temporary fole for 3-4 months.
The purpose of the Estimator/Surveyor role is to provide an estimating, surveying and sales service for Metal Fabrication or anywhere in manufacturing as required.
Key Responsibilities for this Estimator/Surveyor role are:
Responsible for surveying, including measuring, specifying and valuing work to be completed.

- To prepare and submit bids and tenders in response to requests from internal and external customers to supply various products which are produced by Metal Fabrication
- To ensure that requests for quotations are processed promptly in response to customer requests.
- To visit potential customers and create sales providing specialist metal fabrication advice
- Ensure paperwork is completed to a high standard, in a timely manner
- To analyse site specifications and project requirements as and when required by customers, including risk assessment, method statements, access and egress etc.
- Check and sign off works as required.
- Prepare and produce quotations for smaller value requests.
- To understand technical drawings and specifications in order to produce bids and quotations.
- To produce technical drawings for submission with tenders.
- To liaise with and build relationships with both internal and external customers
- Requirement of the post holder to cover the Working Chargehand and Production Supervisor as and when required.
- Preparation of reports and statistics and monitoring job costs as required.
- Accountability for quotes produced to be cost effective.
- Complete administrative tasks relating to Metal Fabrication including, work completions, follow-ons, customer complaints replies etc.
- Responsible Weld Co-ordinator in absence of Production Manager
- Lean Manufacturing basics -Problem solving techniques, reporting, visual management, 5S
- To assist with the induction of new employees who will work in your team
- To mentor all other lower grade and trade apprentices posts, and assist with their assessment and ongoing development
- Deputise for the Production Manager in his/her absence.
- Deputise for the Working Foreman in his/her absence.

To be considered for the role of Estimator / Surveyor it is essential that you have:

- Demonstrable experience in the manufacturing of metal fabrication or similar role.
- Good written and oral skills
- Experience of surveying, estimating and costing jobs from raw materials to customer specifications.
- Experience of selling metal fabrication product and identifying potential customers.
- Experience of reading and understanding technical specifications.
- Experience of interpreting and using software to create designs and quotes
- Knowledge of computer packages
- Knowledge of product design techniques 
- Knowledge of Safety regulations and other legislation
- Knowledge of estimating and costing jobs from raw materials.
- Full Driving Licence and the ability to drive a company vehicle and comply with the requirements of the company insurers.
