An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer with specialist knowledge of Building Services principles to join a well established organisation in their Bristol office. Working for a leading design consultancy within multiple industries, this is an exciting time this growing company working within a range of industry sectors.

The client is a design consultancy with numerous operations and office bases throughout the UK, our client has won contracts with leading operators within the market (both public and private sector) and have plans in place to win further large projects over the next 18 months.  

The Mechanical Engineer  will ultimately report into the departmental Director and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team  help deliver comprehensive designs from feasibility through to ultimate commissioning.  You will typically be operating under nominal supervision thus in depth understanding of Building Services designs, applications and the bid/tender process is essential.

Key duties associated with this role will include:

  • Developing and presenting project design proposals to clients following external brief.
  • Tender preparations inclusive of specification, designs, drawings, equipment schedules and contract documentation.
  • Issuing contract documentation for tender and making recommendations as to appropriate contractors to meet project requirements.
  • Acting as lead consultant to undertake all tasks as outlined above for specific client works.
  • Daily utilisation of AutoCAD for design, alongside BIM, REVI and Cymap.
  • Providing supervision at a Project level – managing resource in line with programme requirements.

The Mechanical Engineer will have:

  • Extensive knowledge of and capabilities in within Building Services Mechanical Design
  • Previous experience with the tender process
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation
  • Experience of taking works from feasibility through to the management of commissioning
  • Excellent leadership, communication and team working skills to develop strong working relationships quickly
  • Degree qualified within a relevant Engineering discipline
  • Membership of a professional institution would be advantageous
