Job Title: Finance Manager - Part Time (21 hours)
We have the pleasure of partnering with Age UK Newcastle for appointment of a brand new Finance Manager position. Working as part of the management team, you will support the work of the Head of Finance & Business Development by taking responsibility for the day-to-day accounting and financial management of the charity.
You will hold responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of the accounting and control of information held in and reported within the organisation. Preparing weekly cash-flow, and reporting on variances to budget, you will provide consistent updates to both the Head of Finance & Business Development and CEO. You will lead the credit control processes for all income streams and manage supplier payments in-line with cash flow requirements and organisational policy.
Taking responsibility for the finance department you will produce monthly management accounts and other finance reports, including variance analysis. Preparing full balance sheet account reconciliations on quarterly basis and supervising bank reconciliation will fall as part of your remit. You will ensure monthly and fortnightly payrolls are in line with internal procedures, and fully comply with current legislation - including pension submissions and regulatory reporting.
You will provide strategic support to the overall organisation in delivering finance and business strategy - supporting in the development and management of all departmental and grant budgets. You will support the Head of Finance & Business Development to develop and execute an action plan to develop and strengthen the finance team. You will provide management support to the Finance Officer, providing advice, training and support as required.
Working in a highly regulated sector, you will monitor changes in relevant legal and regulatory frameworks. You will monitor the VAT threshold for both the Charity and advise the Head of Resources and Business Development accordingly. You will maximise the organisations purchasing power through negotiations with suppliers on a regular basis.
Working within the Charity sector it is imperative that you carry experience of SORP and charity law, with working experience within the industry. You will show practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques.
It is essential that you are either full or part time qualified in a financial accreditation such as; CIMA, ACCA or CIPFA. You will have experience of both PAYE and Sage Accounting System.
You will show experience of managing accurate and timely reporting of financial performance, with significant experience of reviewing financial processes, procedures and systems to ensure maximum efficiency.
