The Premier Pathways program is a 2-year classroom based initial History Teacher training program which accredits you with a full level-7 PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) AND 60 credits towards a master’s degree in education or leadership. The program allows you to pick the school which you work at and gives you lots of autonomy towards how you structure your time spent within the school. As an experiential learning process, we believe that you will be a confident, calm and collected History Teacher by the end of the program as you would have spent 3.5x the amount of time in a classroom than any other NQT. You are given a training salary to train as a History Teacher and there are no fees, no debts and no expenditure on the trainee History Teachers part.

The ideal trainee History Teacher will have a strong academic background, good subject knowledge and a degree in a relevant field of study such ancient history, post-war history and classical civilization studies. The successful trainee History Teacher will have some experience working with children whether it is in a school or in another formal environment. The chosen trainee History Teacher will be porous to new information, be a wiling learner and have a strong motivation to become a History Teacher. The trainee History Teacher will be personable, approachable and will develop and build upon pre-existing confidence to transfer their expertise in to a creative, clear and cohesive set of lesson plans.

The Premier Pathways History Teacher training program begins with 2 terms of reduced responsibility teaching for instance; co-teaching, small group work and 1:1 mentorship. This time allows you to monitor and observe the best teachers within the school so you can improve your style and have knowledge of the best practice within the school. As you progress through the program the trainee History Teacher will undertake more responsibility and by the second year you should be teaching a 0.8 timetable and devising and delivering your own lesson plans. Overall, the program aims to create high quality, confident and committed NQT’s who want to stay in education to make a difference.
