Advice and Information Officer - South West Midlands
Advice & Information Officer
Covering Herefordshire & Worcestershire (Home based)
£19,767.60 per annum
Fixed Term - 12 Months
As an Advice and Information Officer, you will be home based, spending much of your time getting out and about into the community, running outreach sessions designed to provide advice and information about all aspects of the Legion's work, as well as signposting. You will also be responsible for the building up support networks with other charities and agencies, delivering presentations to raise awareness of the needs of the Armed Forces Community.
Accustomed to providing advice and information support to clients, you'll have an understanding of statutory welfare provision and experience of building relationships with a range of different agencies. An excellent communicator with an outgoing personality and strong organisational and planning skills, you will also need good IT skills and be confident in supporting our beneficiaries through our new online database. Knowledge of the Welfare Benefit application process is desirable.
It is essential that you have an empathy with the UK armed forces community and some knowledge and understanding of this area would also be an advantage.
Whilst the post is home based, there will be a requirement for extensive travel across the South West Midlands area and you will be expected to work in the Area Office in Bristol periodically; therefore, a full driving licence and use of a car is essential for this role.
Please apply online by visiting The Royal British Legion's website.
The closing date for this role is 28th June 2017.
Preferential treatment will be given to Legion employees identified as at risk of redundancy.
