Role Overview

We are working with a leading specialist rail contractor who require a Senior Electrical & Mechanical Engineer to deliver a challenging portfolio. You will have the opportunity to deliver the full design project lifecycle from feasibility and option selection stage through to detailed design and final hand back to the client.

This is a key position within the team and you be required to deputise for the Engineering Manager and the Design/Consultancy Engineers with clients and in the design office. The position will require someone who is driven, can operate in responsible capacities and has a strong track record of delivery within the rail sector.

Role & Responsibilities

Performing investigation, analysis and design activities on key projects in line with client specifications, rail industry standards and codes of practice.

Engaging with relevant Project Engineers, Project Managers and Clients and ensuring effective communication on project and operational activities.

Resolving technical issues on projects either independently or as part of the team and providing technical support to junior team members.

Collaborating with other rail design & services disciplines to ensure the successful delivery of the design project.

Preparing and recording all project documentation and design reports in compliance with project requirements.

Reviewing completed engineering work and raise issues with the team or management as required.

Develop commercial skills and support managements contract and commercial activity.

Consistently keep updated on relevant HSE documentation and highlight any potential issues to management.

Design experience in Railway Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering, ideally in a Senior Engineer or equivalent capacity.

Previous experience in undertaking CRE roles on Network Rail projects.

HNC/BEng in Electrical Engineering or related subject.

Attained Chartered Status with IET, IMEchE or equivalent institution.

Safety awareness and risk assessment skills.

Strong communication skills and leadership characteristics.

Network Rail Personal Track Safety.
