Our client is looking for an ambitious strategic leader, with a successful track record of sales and delivering commercial growth, to lead this important part of our business. In this new role, you will have the opportunity to grow, develop and shape the future direction of the business.

Location: Plymouth (Science Park) - with 1/2 days per week on the road

Our client is an established and trusted provider of online solutions for Local Government. The vision has always been to create online software that makes learning and work easier whilst helping to save money.

The Role

They are looking for an ambitious strategic leader with a successful track record of sales and delivering commercial growth to lead this important part of the business. You will have the opportunity to work with an established team and client base to grow, develop and shape the future direction of the business.

You will be supported by the operations manager and heads of support and development to drive operational excellence in order to optimise revenue, deliver financial sustainability and deliver excellent service to our clients.

You will have full P&L responsibility and will be focussed on converting sales pipeline and seeking out new business opportunities.

Main areas of responsibility

Sales and client management

  • End to end sales and account management, including bid writing
  • Build and convert the sales pipeline by seeking out and developing new opportunities
  • Manage ongoing relationships with our clients

Team leadership

  • Manage, mentor and guide a professional and multi-disciplinary team
  • Ensure that the work and responsibilities allocated are tightly aligned to the team’s goals and priorities

Setting targets and reporting against budget

  • Work with the CFO to set KPIs, forecast and report revenue
  • Monitor and report on business performance against targets

Business strategy & execution

  • In partnership with the CFO, set the strategy, vision and goals for the company, and translate these into a coherent strategy that will achieve revenue growth

The Person

You will have:

- a successful track record in business development, with at least 5 years' sales experience at enterprise level

- experience of leading a team or small business

- demonstrable track record in building relationships with clients and stakeholders

Experience of working with Local Authorities, or in a software development setting would be beneficial.

You will be an authentic and credible leader, engaged in the success of the business and delivering results. You will bring experience of leading teams and aligning individual performance to overall business strategy.
