Matchtech are working with a Local Authority based in Bristol to help supply an experienced candidate specialising in Development Management.

This Local Authority based in Bristol are looking for an experienced Senior Development Management Officer to join the team for an initial period of 3 months to work on a caseload of minor and major applications coming into the council.

Experience on Major applications is required due to the nature of the work you will be carrying out and the candidate MUST be RTPI accredited.

PURPOSE OF THE POST

To assist the Principal Planning Officer in providing a high quality, effective and efficient service to the development industry and its stakeholders.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be required to manage and process a caseload of planning applications including carrying out site inspections, consultations, negotiations, advising interested parties, producing draft reports, making recommendations, and preparing draft decision notices, in accordance with planning legislation and in a consistent manner which satisfies the objectives of the service and meets agreed performance targets and deadlines

Also you will be required to deal with all relevant correspondence and enquiries, including letters, pre-application enquiries, and appeals in accordance with agreed procedures/timescales

To maintain a sound, up to date, knowledge of current planning legislation, development plan policies, government guidance and appeal decisions

To be familiar with and operate the Uniform DC system and GIS systems and to keep up to date with new technology as introduced

You will be attending planning committee and assist the lead officer in presenting cases

To act as the Council's representative/expert witness at informal hearings and public inquiries adhering to statutory timescales

To provide, and to assist in maintaining, excellent customer service to all internal and external customers in line with the Council's commitment to Customer Service Excellence

To undertake such other work as may be required from time to time by the Director, Head of Service or Development Manager consistent with the grade and duties of the post.
