Do you have a scientific background and the drive to succeed in scientific sales? This is an opportunity to join the sales team of a worldwide leading supplier of laboratory consumables and laboratory equipment.

The Account Manager is responsible for promoting the Company’s well-established portfolio of laboratory consumables and supplies to key academic and research institutes, clinical, biotechnology and pharmaceutical accounts within the West Midlands territory.


Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager:
- Achieve annual territory sales and gross margin targets;
- Promote the Company’s products and services to customers within Industrial, Higher Education, Government, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Healthcare accounts;
- Make a minimum of 25 customer visits per week on average (this requirement may be higher for territories containing particular mixes of account types);
- Work with the policies and procedures in order to control your business;
- Work with all areas of the organisation in order to ensure customer requirements are met;
- Work with preferred suppliers on the territory to ensure the correct product profile is sold;
- Ensure the customer record database is maintained to the correct standard at all times;
- Provide feedback using verbal and written reporting tools to the business on customers, competitor activity, promotions etc.;
- Effectively interrogate historical sales data to assess the performance of your territory and act to most effectively drive sales growth;
- Use the key business tools to help you drive performance;
- Work as a team with fellow sales team members who visit the same customers, maintaining regular communication to ensure clarity for the customer and minimum duplication of activity;
- Work with the business to manage bad debt customers.


The Company is a worldwide leading supplier of laboratory consumables and supplies, providing an extensive portfolio of high-quality products from a wide range of manufacturers. Principal customers are major pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, technology, clinical, food processing and consumer product companies, universities, education and research institutes, governmental and environmental testing agencies.


- Degree or similar qualification in a science subject;
- Ability to demonstrate a record of success in a previous sales role is highly desirable, particularly in markets with direct relevance to the Company’s business;
- An understanding of the key business levers to drive profitable sales;
- A hunger for success and proactive attitude with good time management;
- Knowledge of the customer base;
- Excellent communication and computer skills, including excel;
- Full UK driving licence;
- Home location within the territory boundaries: postcodes B, DE, WV, WR, WS, TF, SY, ST, CW, SK.


- £30,000 to £38,000 (depending on experience), plus 25% bonus OTC;
