Our client is seeking a Sales Advisor to join their team in Bletchley.

JOB SUMMARY:

Providing the highest standard of friendly, knowledgeable customer service to deliver the Company objective to be the decorator’s first choice.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Selling

Assisting in developing profitable sales by:

•Pro-actively selling the company`s product range

•Promoting Albany and other own brand products

•Promoting special offers

•Selling special products i.e., goods outside the Company`s stock range

•Pro-actively suggesting link lines and alternative stock products

•Providing relevant feedback to management and colleagues on e.g. competitors, customer needs, sales leads, opportunities to work more effectively

Customer Service

Putting the customer first by:

•Acknowledging customers as quickly as possible in a friendly and welcoming manner in the branch, at the counter, in the showroom and /or sales office

•Promptly serving customers and effectively operating the POS (point of sale) system taking details, orders and payment; may also include booking goods in, placing orders and cashing up

•Promptly and effectively dealing with customer enquiries including on the telephone and by email; keeping customers informed where appropriate

•Developing long term friendly and professional relationships with customers

•Providing appropriate advice using specialist knowledge gained through training and self-development to assist customers in getting the results they are looking for

•Replenishing stock in the shop, particularly promotional offers and hot spots and including marketing materials and price marking

•Tinting paint to customers specification and routine maintenance of tinting machines

•Promptly handling complaints within agreed parameters, exceeding customer expectations

•Helping to create a clean, welcoming branch and working space, for customers and colleagues

•Providing support to colleagues by covering other roles and responsibilities as required

Stock Handling (where appropriate)

The job holder helps in the effective operation of the warehouse by:

•Assisting with ordering stock for the branch

•Assisting drivers in loading goods in a systematic and safe way

•Un-loading goods from delivery vehicles by forklift truck or by hand and ensuring the accuracy of delivery documentation

•Adhering to booking in and booking out procedures

•Storing goods received promptly. Ensuring that stock is properly rotated ensuring specials and sold orders are extracted

•Accurately picking customers' orders for delivery and collection

•Maintaining the warehouse to agreed standards

Driving (where appropriate)

Ensuring the roadworthiness of the delivery vehicle and a high standard of presentation to appropriately represent the Company brand in the wider area by:

•Making maintenance checks of the vehicle ensuring it is road worthy and clean

•Adhering to the Highway Code and transport legislation relevant to the size and type of vehicle

•Driving with care and courtesy

•Adhering to Company systems and policies in relation to driving including mobile phone use whilst driving

•Planning delivery schedule to ensure customers' expectations are met

•Accurately assembling goods for delivery

•Loading goods for delivery in a systematic and safe way

•Making collections as required

Ad Hoc tasks

As directed by the Branch Senior, Supervisor or Branch Manager

Other Conditions relevant to the role

In addition to the above key tasks the job holder is also responsible for:

•Promoting the Company’s Aims and Values and setting an example by own behaviour and adherence to these standards

•Supporting change in the business

•Supporting growth and development in the business

•Adhering to all Company policies and systems including Health & Safety and Environmental issues

•The security of cash, stock, premises and vehicle (as appropriate)

•Working with the team on the annual stock take

Working Conditions/Special features/Practical requirements

•The role is not sedentary; to effectively perform routine tasks there is a requirement to be able to lift stock for customer orders, tinting stock and also replenishing shelves in the shop and stock racks, loading and unloading delivery vehicles including:

•Reaching for stock which may include use of ladders and step ups

•Standing

•Use of pump truck / FLT (with training)

•Use of VDU equipment

REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will have:-

•Friendly approachable manner

•Experience in a retail or decorating environment

•Experience in a position with a strong focus on customer service

•Previous experience in a decorators, builders, trade merchant or similar is desirable but not essential
